Keeping an eye on the economy can be a daunting task. Something that helps me to understand month-over-month trends is the monthly Economic Update and Jobs Report (yes, I’ve missed a couple months. Sorry!).
I’ve attached a quick and easy-to-understand review of June’s report here: June ’17 Economic Update
Below are some highlights as well.
June’s Economic Update:
- Q1 GDP: +1.15%
- Unemployment Rate: 4.3% – Lowest since May 2001! Great for America- bad for recruiters
- Unemployment Rate for Bachelor’s Degree or Higher: 2.3%
Over the past 3 months, job gains have averaged 121,000 per month
Most concerning fact: Number of American’s in the labor force fell by 429,000
- Paychecks for private sector workers grew by an average of 2.5%
- Participation fell .2% to 62.7%
I hope this helps!
